Training Visa (subclass 407)

What is a Training Visa (subclass 407)?

This visa allows you to visit and live in Australia on a temporary visa for a  maximum of 2 years.

You will need to participate in any one of the following types of training:

  • Workplace based training required for any registration
  • Structured workplace-based training to enhance skills in an eligible occupation
  • Training that promotes capacity building overseas.

How can we assist you?

One of the requirements of this visa is, Workplace-based occupational training for streams other than professional development training programmes must be for at least 30 hours a week and at least 70 per cent of this training must be workplace-based, 30 per cent can be classroom based.

Training Australia First can assist you to meet this requirement by:

  • Providing you with a structured training plan;
  • Organising a workplace based occupational training activities or classroom-based professional development activities.

What we cannot do?

  • TAF cannot sponsor you under this training visa.
  • You will need to organise your sponsor.
  • TAF cannot apply for visa on your behalf, you will need to source your immigration lawyer or agent.

How to enrol and get a Training Plan?

  1. Fill out the Professional Development application form.
  2. Pay the initial deposit as per the application form, Note: the initial deposit is non-refundable.
  3. Submit the following documents along with the Professional development application form:

  • Certified copy of Academic qualification
  • Evidence of functional English according to the 407 visa requirements (if applicable)
  • Certified passport copy
  • Position Description
  • Employment letters
  • Detailed CV with contact details and references

Once TAF receives all the documents along with the initial deposit, TAF will review the documents and send out a letter of offer and written agreement along with a self-assessment checklist.

  1. You must go through the letter of offer and written agreement and sign and send the document back.
  2. The self-assessment checklist will be sent out within 10 business day. This needs to be completed by you and submitted to TAF.
  3. If required, a Skype, phone or face to face interview will be carried out with you to finalise the training needs analysis.
  4. Once the process is finalised TAF will develop a customised individual training plan for you within 10 business days.
  5. The training plan will be sent to your Migration agent to support your visa application.

Training Visa- 407 Granted!

  1. On the granting of your visa, you will be invoice for 50% of the agreed training cost. Payment should be made within 14 days of receipt of invoice. The final 50% should be paid in six months after commencement of your employment and training program.
  2. On arrival in Australia, you will commence your training with TAF and you will be provided with the training induction in your workplace.

Refunds Policy

  • Initial payment charged during the enrolment is non- refundable. It includes:
    • Review of application form
    • Development of the training plan
  • Applicant must make the remaining payment for the program once their visa is approved unless they negotiate and enter into a payment plan with TAF.
  • The program is non-transferable, if an applicant wishes to withdraw from the program, they will need to make a written application to TAF.
  • Applicant who give notice to withdraw their enrolment more than 28 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid.
  • Applicant who give notice to cancel their enrolment less than 28 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a 25% refund of fees paid.
  • Students who withdraw their enrolment after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees.

Where the applicant has made payments of tuition fees to their agent and the fees have not been received by TAF, and the student has withdrawn from the program, no refund is payable to the applicant by TAF.
